The Sand Gates

was wrapping bits of food in a linen napkin so she could escape this unacceptable future.
There had been rain that afternoon, drenching the meadow grasses through which she would have to walk as she made
her way to the woods on the other side to escape into the unknown, traveling not only to find her future, but to discover her
past, for she knows nothing of her parentage, only that she is an orphan, alone in the world.
